Golrang "Rey" Garofano, a Democrat representing the Chittenden-23 district, has served in the Vermont House of Representatives since 2022 and currently serves as Vice Chair of the House Committee on Human Services. Born in Iran, she immigrated to the United States in the mid-1980s to escape the Islamic regime and the Iran-Iraq War, and has worked for the State of Vermont since 2006, with her career spanning human services areas including health care, affordable housing, homelessness, and early childhood education. She currently works at the Child Development Division within the Department for Children and Families, focusing on early childhood education policy and equity initiatives, and holds degrees from Champlain College and certificates from UVM and the University of South Florida.
