Kate Nugent has represented the Chittenden-10 district in the Vermont House of Representatives since January 2023, succeeding Maida Townsend. She holds a BA in International Relations and French from Colgate University and an MA in Renaissance and Medieval Women's Literature from the University of South Carolina, and serves on the House Committee on Government Operations and Military Affairs. Before her election, Nugent worked as executive director of the Winooski Partnership for Prevention, a nonprofit focused on preventing substance use among youth and young adults, and previously served five years as a Justice of the Peace in South Burlington.
