Kathleen James has represented the Bennington-4 district — covering Manchester, Arlington, Sandgate, and part of Sunderland — in the Vermont House since 2019, currently serving as Chair of the House Committee on Energy and Digital Infrastructure. Before entering politics, she worked as a Capitol Hill reporter for Roll Call, a reporter-researcher for TIME, and a senior editor for Snow Country, and she holds degrees in political science and journalism from Northwestern University. During earlier terms she served on the House Committee on Education and as Assistant Majority Leader (Whip), and she has been selected for multiple bipartisan leadership programs including the CSG Toll Fellowship and NCSL Emerging Leaders Academy.
