Matthew Birong

Matthew Birong, a Democrat representing the Addison-3 district, has served in the Vermont House of Representatives since 2019. A lifelong Vermonter, he is the Chef/Owner of 3 Squares Café in downtown Vergennes and is a graduate of the New England Culinary Institute with over 20 years of experience in the culinary industry, including work in fine dining establishments in Manhattan, Boston, and Burlington. Birong chairs the House Committee on Government Operations and Military Affairs and co-chairs both the Canvassing Committee and the County and Regional Governance Study Committee. He is also a partner in Cacao Bosque/Reserva Zorzal, an agricultural and environmental preservation project in the Dominican Republic.
