Michael Ashooh

Michael Ashooh has served on the Shelburne Selectboard since his election on March 5, 2019, and currently serves as Chair; he previously served on the town's Ethics Committee for seven years. He teaches Philosophy at the University of Vermont, specializing in the Philosophy of Science, Kant, and Ethics, and has lived in Shelburne Heights since 2007. In 2024, Ashooh announced a Democratic bid for the Chittenden-7 Vermont House seat, citing his selectboard leadership and stating his intent to address the state's affordability crisis, housing shortage, education funding challenges, and climate change preparedness.
