John Benson

John Benson, a career civil engineer and managing partner at DuBois & King, was appointed to the Vermont Senate by Governor Phil Scott in January 2026 to replace Larry Hart. He serves on the Senate Committee on Health and Welfare and the Senate Committee on Institutions. Benson was named Vermont's Engineer of the Year in 2018 and is a past president of the Vermont Society of Engineers; he also served over 35 years with the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department, including 28 years as fire chief, and has chaired the Brookfield Selectboard for 16 years.
