John Morley, a Republican from Orleans, has served in the Vermont Senate representing the Orleans District since December 5, 2025, when he was appointed by Governor Phil Scott to succeed resigned senator Samuel Douglass. He previously served in the Vermont House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011, where he sat on the Appropriations and Commerce Committees. A University of Vermont graduate, Morley has worked as a first class lineman and has served as Village Manager of Orleans since 1993, and has also been affiliated with the Vermont Public Power Supply Authority and the Northeastern Vermont Development Association, of which he was elected President in September 2012.
