Kesha Ram Hinsdale has served in the Vermont Senate since January 2021, representing the Chittenden-Southeast District, and currently holds the position of Majority Leader, a role she assumed in January 2025. She previously served in the Vermont House of Representatives from 2009 to 2016, where she was recognized as the youngest state legislator in the country at the time of her first election. Ram Hinsdale, the first woman of color to serve in the Vermont Senate, championed the state's first Environmental Justice policy, which passed in 2022, and received an Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Merit Award for that work. She holds a BA in Political Science and a BS in Natural Resource Planning from the University of Vermont, as well as a Master of Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School, and lives in Shelburne with her husband and dog.
