Richard Westman is a Republican State Senator representing the Lamoille District who has served in the Vermont Senate since 2011, following a lengthy tenure in the Vermont House of Representatives from 1982 to 2009, where he served as assistant majority leader and minority leader. A graduate of Johnson State College with a B.A. in political science and public policy, Westman previously served as Vermont's Commissioner of Taxes and as director of the Vermont Higher Education Investment Plan. He currently chairs the Senate Transportation Committee and serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee, among several other legislative assignments.
