Robert Norris is a lifelong Franklin County resident who has served in the Vermont Senate representing the Franklin District since January 2023, having previously served in the Vermont House of Representatives from 2021 to 2023. He graduated from Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans in 1975 and earned an AS in criminal justice from Community College of Vermont, going on to a career in law enforcement that included serving as Franklin County Sheriff. In the Senate, he serves as Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Judiciary and also sits on the Joint Legislative Justice Oversight Committee, the County and Regional Governance Study Committee, and the State Aid for School Construction Working Group. He has also held numerous local roles in the Town of Sheldon, including Zoning Administrator, justice of the peace, and town moderator, a position he continues to hold.
