Thomas Chittenden

Thomas Chittenden has served as a Vermont State Senator representing the Chittenden-Southeast District since January 2021, previously representing the broader Chittenden District from 2021 to 2023. A South Burlington native born October 8, 1977, he has served on the South Burlington City Council since 2015 and was twice elected Faculty Senate President at the University of Vermont, where he was named the 2019 Grossman School of Business Faculty Member of the Year. His Vermont family lineage traces nine generations to Bethuel Chittenden, brother of Vermont's first governor, and he lives in the historic Chittenden family home on land with deeds dating to 1836.
