Michael Hoyt is a Democrat representing the Windsor-4 District in the Vermont House of Representatives, appointed by Governor Phil Scott on December 2, 2025, to replace Heather Surprenant. He serves on the House Committee on Environment. Hoyt grew up in Norwich, Vermont, earned a bachelor's degree from UVM and a law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School, and has worked as an attorney for the Vermont Legislature and the Vermont Department of Labor, and currently works at Dartmouth College. He previously served on the Hartford Selectboard beginning in 2021, including three years as Chair and currently as Vice-Chair.
