Gaston Bathalon serves on the Troy Selectboard alongside roles on the Troy School Board, the North Country Supervisory Union Board, and as Troy's Town Health Officer. A lifelong Vermonter and son of French-Canadian parents, he is a 30-year U.S. Army veteran who retired at the rank of Colonel, commanding the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine and deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. In October 2025, Bathalon announced his candidacy for the Vermont State Senate representing the Orleans District, saying, "This campaign isn't about party politics or headlines — it's about service."
