Sources and coverage
What is included
We publish 202 race pages and 422 ballot-entry pages from the Secretary of State's 2026 general election qualified-candidates workbook. Offices include the U.S. House, statewide offices, the Vermont Senate and House, and five county offices. The 229 justice of the peace contests and their 2,197 entries are excluded from this release.
The source workbook contains 431 contest and district groups and 2,619 nonempty rows. A ballot entry is one row in one race. People are not merged across races. Party labels are literal workbook text; they are not an endorsement or our own classification.
Source dates and corrections
The workbook says it was last updated September 23, 2026. We checked the exact file on October 13, 2026. Those are different dates. If the file changes or is unreachable, the published snapshot remains visible with its date until a replacement is checked. Go Vermont does not collect or republish the workbook's addresses, phone numbers or email addresses.

Positions, events and news
Candidate positions, debate appearances and news reports need separate, dated sources. As of October 13, we have applied the same four-channel search to every ballot entry in all seven federal and statewide races: public statements, Vermont Public questionnaire answers, original reporting and public event sources. That is 7 of 202 races and 23 of 422 ballot entries; legislative and county races still await candidate-specific review. A candidate’s nonresponse or unanswered question does not mean they have no positions, and an event listing is not proof of attendance. Source publication dates and check dates are different; undated pages are labeled as such.
